False Memory

Well this is a disturbing book but hey I did read it and enjoyed it. I can't recall the name of the other book that I tried to read and just couldn't. Strange because I read him a lot in high school but maybe I just like his older stuff. It did in a way remind me of Dollhouse. Also it isn't funny of course but the bit about Keanu did give me a giggle. Just insert another name and oh crap I wouldn't want that to happen to me.

Now this is a pretty long book but it is good and I was able to get into it quickly unlike that other book that I just had to toss back. That's the great thing about the library having access to all those books and if one doesn't appeal there's always a bunch more to take its place. I'm not sure if this comes in hardback or not but if it does I suggest you don't get the hardback version since it is 751 pages in paperback. See I told you it was long but I have no problem with long books.

Martie's best friend Susan suffers from agoraphobia and I have to say I would certainly want a best friend like her because she goes with her to the shrink twice a week for over a year. Things do seem very off when Martie starts feeling pretty strange herself. She has an episode herself and gets diagnosed with autophobia. Sounds like fear of cars but it's really fear of yourself. She's afraid she's going to hurt her husband. Of course they call the shrink that has been helping Susan not knowing the truth about this man.

There's brainwashing of people who are being controlled by this one madman who has friends in high places allowing him to have his fun. But he underestimated Martie and Dusty who figure out what's going on. The creepy thing is that it seems plausible after all people do get hypnotized and you never know what someone might tell you to do. So this psycho is a puppet master forcing all his victims to do all sorts of things and giving them phobias. So this is evil and that's so not cool using books for evil. The haiku thing is pretty interesting so I think I might try writing some haiku myself but not for evil of course and they probably won't even rhyme although I don't think there's some rule about that as long as they are the right number of syllables for each line.
