Since I read walk I prefer paperbacks especially with a book of this size. In paperback this is 658 pages so you have been warned. The thought of reading it in hardback just didn't appeal although I was willing to do it although it would slow me down a bit because I don't read walk with hardbacks. Also I ended up reading two other books in between because of course I put this aside because I didn't want to be tempted to not return it on the day it was due which means I read another book and after that another one because it was looking like the next book will turn out to be a hardback because I have the crappy luck of being next to a moronic library. The fingers are crossed that it will be paperback since this dude does write pretty long books which I do like.
This is certainly a case of being careful about what you wish for. Anna in a brief moment wishing she was somewhere else actually gets her wish and gets whisked away to another world. The only problem I had with this series was the lack of a little glossary at the back helping with the weird pronunciation of words. Who knows if I'm actually saying them right? So she's stuck in Erde because of two people wanting to bring forth a sorceress from the mist worlds. She lands in the middle of a battle and since her singing actually packs quite a punch here she has a bulls eye on her back.
So here she is in a strange place discovering that she can do magic just by singing which is an interesting way of doing magic where she doesn't know who to trust. She misses her family but she's trapped her with no way to return home so she might never get back to Iowa where her family remains. Since I don't make it a habit of reading books more than once if I don't like them that should show that I did enjoy the series and it was only the stupid library's fault that I never did finish reading it. It isn't easy for Anna since she's powerful and she also happens to be a woman who ended up quite by accident getting a youth spell.
