The House

Now I've read other books by Bentley but this has to be the strangest one ever. I'm almost afraid to find out if there's something even more bizarre that I just haven't gotten around to reading. There's also some confusion because it bounces around a bit and I'm not sure what the point of Teddy in the beginning is since that didn't even seem to have a bearing on the book at all.

Yes it is disturbing so I'll warn you about that and the little girl or what appears to be a little girl is pretty unsettling too. I guess this is how a person feels when they're compelled to watch the aftermath of a crash. I'm never had that urge myself so I'm guessing this is something like it. So even though there was some confusion I guess I did like it otherwise why would I keep reading the thing. If you're in the mood for weird and utterly disturbing this is the book for you. There are five people haunted by the past who are drawn back home.

See this is where more confusion comes in because I wonder if it shouldn't have been called The Houses since there are five people who all lived in a house of their own. They have to come back because they are the boundary between this world and the other side. This little girl wants to bring down the boundary but the people are there to keep it from happening so now they're trapped and can't get out of the houses which combined into one home. Was someone drinking while writing this? I'm just glad the thing is over although I do have more books by this author waiting for me.

I think I'll take a break and read something else first but I'll likely go back. Even though there's a heaping dose of disturbing in his books they just seem to suck you in. You just can't stop yourself from reading them. Maybe there should be a warning label. So if you don't like being uncomfortable while reading you might not want to read this book. So venture in if you dare and see if you get as confused as I did. Or maybe I'm just more prone to confusion but I would imagine that I'm not the only one that had that reaction.
